Music

At All Saints Church School, our vision for Music is that it is inclusively embedded throughout the school community. We want all children to experience the joy of Music in the classroom, school hall and playground. We encourage children to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up the confidence of all children.

Our Music curriculum is shaped by our school vision, which aims to enable all children, regardless of background, ability, additional needs, to flourish and to become the very best version of themselves they can possibly be.

We follow The Kapow Music scheme which inspires children to explore, understand and appreciate musical styles, genres, skills and techniques.. The lessons progressively build upon children’s skills, knowledge and confidence so that they naturally want to showcase their achievements.

EYFS

At All Saints, we provide a stimulating EYFS curriculum that nurtures children’s natural curiosity to explore and express themselves through music. Children are encouraged to listen, respond and play music through a variety of experiences. Music is incorporated through communication and language, through singing songs and rhymes, physically moving to music and creatively responding with expression.

Community links

We use the local church and community to celebrate our Christian ethos and values. We offer opportunities throughout the year for children to showcase their musical talents, such as Harvest, Easter and Christmas.

Peripatetic.

Our peripatetic teachers who come into school to teach music lessons are giving opportunities for children to learn and develop their skills from an experienced specialist teacher. They also provide whole class instrumental lessons.

Composer of the month

The school Music Ambassadors have a vital role in upholding the pupil voice for music across the school. They help to choose hymns and promote a variety of composers every month.

Music Playtimes regularly occur, where popular music is played and children can dance, sing and express themselves freely.
